Today's awesomosity directly stems from last night, but its gonna be short, because I AM TIRED. And, for the third night in a row, I will probably only get 4-5 hours of sleep tonight. Boo.
So, awesome today? World Premieres. For movies, for songs, for babies (you may know that world premiere by its more common name, birth), products, beer. Well, last night we had the world premiere of AB's new beer, American Ale. It's not too bad. No, I didn't try it (I don't drink, for those that don't know), but I did ask for many opinions, so I can try to tell others what it might taste like. It totally sounds like the type of beer I may like. One person called it Fat Tire Light. From AB, that sounds about right.
We were expecting to be crazy busy last night, since the Point (local radio station) was broadcasting live (for a mug crawl, which by its very nature, tells people to leave), AB World Premiere, great band, all the makings for a bang up night. So, for our staff, we had: 3 managers (plus GM and AB Rep), 6 bartenders, 5 servers, 2 doorguys, 2 barbacks, and a food runner (in a pear tree). That almost guarantees it to not be a great night. Well, it wasn't a great night, but it was really busy for a little bit and steady otherwise. There have definitely been worse Friday nights. It was a lot of fun though. I love working there, keeps me in the bar atmosphere, but I don't have to drink.
So there ya go, short and sweet. For today's taskomosity (whaddya think?) I'm gonna put out the challenge to attend a special event. It doesn't have to be a one time only, or cost a lot, it could totally be the special exhibit at your local museum. But, go to something that you can only go to for a limited time.
Here is what it looked like at LLY a little later in the evening:
Here is my dog tired:
Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow!!

Day 75
So, Joe Elder is apparently very awesome. Who knew?
Also, have you all completely stopped clicking on ads? I've been stuck at $15.02 for about a week.
And, congratulations to Jim Barnard, who officially named my computer. The name is (drumroll please.......) Fu Mac Chu. And then I named the hard drive Sideburns. Whaddya think?
So, today's awesomosity comes from what I spent my morning doing. What I got up before 6am for (and therefore only got 4 hours of sleep due to too much Coke, me thinks). It is a business networking group I am a part of to help grow my business called BNI.
Business Networking International is a relationship based referral network. It has been benecficial to me and my dad in our home inspection business in several ways. One, it has taught us how to market our business. Two, it has helped us grow our business. Three, I have trusted friends to whom I can refer other friends, clients and colleagues. Four, it has taught me some great leadership skills, which is what this morning was all about.
As you may notice on my chapter's webpage, I am the president (I always think of the great Jon Lovitz Liars Club skit), and next year I will be Vice President (and way more awesome than Biden, but not as hot a Palin).
So, today's awesome task for the day (STILL LOOKING FOR A BETTER NAME!!!!) is to promote who you work for. Somehow. To Someone. For any reason. If you would like to visit my BNI group, let me know. Or if you are looking for any (and I mean any) service, let me know, I may (and probably do) know someone.
Have a great rainy day!
Come to Llywelyn's tonight for the World Premiere (Yes, World) of AB's new beer, American Ale. Great band too.
Thanks for reading, see you tomorrow!

Day 74
This picture is for the victims of 9-11-01
So today is a very exciting day for me. Today is my first full day as a Mac owner! Hooray!
I have this friend from Llywelyns that had this Powerbook that she used for iTunes. That was about it. So, she recently upgraded to a PC and didn't have anything to do with the Mac. She knew that I wanted one, so she offered it to me. I took a look at it and was pretty happy with what I got. It's not everything I wanted, but it was about $2850 cheaper than the one I really want, so it'll totally do. I am fairly certain that it will do what I want it to do, and that is really all I need right now.
For any of you tech geeks, here are some of the specs, let me know if you want to know more. It is a Titanium Powerbook G4, approx. 4 yrs. old. It has an 800 MhZ processor and 512 mb of ram (which I will hopefully upgrade to a gig soon). It is running Tiger (OS 10.4.11), which should be plenty to run what I want it to for a while at least. It does need a new battery (battery health 14%, it holds a charge for maybe a half hour) and a new charger will be needed soon, this charger is holding on by threads.
But either way, I got a great deal on a computer I will love! I am terribly excited.
For your awesome task (still looking for a better name) today, I say spend between $100 - $200 on something you've wanted for a while. This does have some limitations, obviously. Don't do it if you can't afford it. But if you get the opportunity to get a great deal, totally take it, and definitely post it as a comment, so we can all celebrate your awesomeness!
Here is my picture, taken with my lovely new Mac (also looking for a good name for the computer, send me some suggestions!)

Day 73
Today my friends have I got a treat for you. As you will see in my picture later, I shaved this morning. I shaved with a disposable triple-blade razor. It was awesome.
I used to be a Mach 3 guy. Used to be. Last time I went to buy some blades, I saw that a 4-pack of blades was like $8 or something. Right next to it is disposable triple-blade razors. 10-pack for like $7. I'm good at math, so I figured I'd give them a shot.
The results have been great so far. I did nick myself a few times the first time, but they take a little getting used to. I think in the end, I will probably buy these again. Or, I'll go for the straight razor. I've always wanted to try that, like when they shave your neck in a true barbershop. It's totally awesome.
While I'm on the topic, I'm going to throw a few links your way. All these are totally worth checking out, even though you voted for me to not put so many links in.
The Onion - Talking about Gillette going to 5 blades (WARNING: Foul Language Ahead!)
The Boston Globe - Discussing the legal battle between Gillette and Shick
Health 24 - How to shave correctly, for those that have no clue
Straight Razor Place - The place for all your straight razor needs
Shave Your Back - A telescoping razor for those hard to reach places (Read up Joe Elder!)
The Art of Manliness - How to shave like your Grandpa. Serious. Maybe my favorite all-around new site.
Now. In the latest poll, you voted that I should suggest some awesomeness, so you all can be awesome too. Today's awesome task (I'm looking for a better name, send me suggestions) is to shave something different in your face. Try a Fu Manchu, or some nice sideburns, or at least a Goatee. Shave your head if you can't grow a beard. If you are a woman, shave a design in your legs. Perhaps a mohawk of sorts. Ok, so women won't do that. Maybe dye your hair in a loud color, at least in streaks.
Let me know if you do any of these awesome tasks, so we can all celebrate our awesomosity together!
By the way, apparently Gavin Masterson is not so awesome, but Sean Trani is currently leading the awesome poll with 3, while Jim and Joe each have 2 votes. Keep voting!
Here is the picture, enjoy the shave and notice that it is that time of year again! I busted out the ol' Blues jersey for the first time of the year. What a great day!

Day 72
Today's awesomosity comes from a movie I watched last night, thanks to Netflix.
I don't want to ruin that vacation you have planned to Rio, but if you watch this movie, it just might. Actually it won't. Just know that most of the exotic cities you go to have a really bad slum not so far from the very touristy areas we rich Americans go to. Rio Di Janiero is no different.
The movie, City of God, is an incredible story based on true events about a city less than fifteen miles from Rio. I couldn't find anything about the true story it was based on, but it all seems like a plausible story. Check out the trailer:
Wasn't that cool? The thing you should know about the movie before you watch it is that it is all in Portugese and subtitled. For me, that helps me pay more attention to the movie itself, but I like to read. If you want to just sit back and enjoy a movie, this is a great story, but you gotta work a little for it.
If you do rent the DVD, I highly recommend the special features. It has actual interviews with hoods and normal people that currently live in the city.
From a film standpoint, it is a very well told story that jumps around a bit, but all for dramatic effect, and they make sure you can follow the story very easily.
Anyway, here is the official Miramax site, and here is what Wikipedia says about it.
Here is a picture of me taken upstairs in my parents place, just for a different background.

Day 71
Today's awesomosity comes from my iGoogle homepage. iGoogle rocks. In fact, pretty much everything about Google is awesome. They have a new internet browser out, called "Chrome". I have it, but haven't had a lot of time to play with it, but from what I have seen and used, its totally awesome. I just got used to the new Firefox when I saw this and I am reluctant to change it up again. But I digress.
iGoogle, for those that don't know, is just the Google homepage, but with all kinds of add-ons that you can customize. You can do news, sports, weather, games, pretty much whatever you want. You can add anything that has an RSS feed, which includes my blog. Awesome.
The gadget I have front and center on my iGoogle is the Man Law Blog. It is fantastic. They have a new man law up every day, and it is quite entertaining. I recommend checking it out and adding it to your iGoogle. If you don't use iGoogle, whats wrong with you? Just kidding, but for real, it is the best search, at least in my opinion.
Ok, so today's post was lame. Sorry. Why don't you all send me some ideas for awesomosity? I could use the help.
Thanks for reading, here's the pic.

Day 70
Man am I feeling old today.
The awesomosity for today comes from last night at Llywelyns. We had this band playing (just like every other Friday and Saturday), and they were pretty good. They are called Westward Sons and are one of the best true rock bands we've had there in a while. Let me put it this way. They played Zeppelin. Well. Awesome.
But that's not where the true awesomosity comes from. The true story goes a little something like this.
I was hanging out at the door with my good buddy Joe (Yes, I got him the job, and yes, he owes me...wink, wink, nudge, nudge, joe). Joe is having a friendly conversation with the guitar player, who was pretty freakin good. I'll put it this way. He had the tube thing so you can do the talking guitar deal on his mic stand. I wasn't around to hear him use it, but come on, if you've even got one you're probably pretty decent on guitar, right?
Anyway, I say the same thing to him that I have said to almost every band for the last few months. I say, "Hey, do you guys do any GNR (Gun's 'n Roses, for those that didn't know)?" He says, of course. We could do like "Sweet Child o' Mine" or something. I am very excited at this point.
Quick aside about Gun's 'n Roses. They will never play St. Louis again. Here is why:
Here is a link to a video of the entire riot.
So, here is the big kicker of awesomeness. When they go to take the stage a few minutes later, the guitar player looks at me and says, "This one's for you." I almost peed myself. (totally kidding about that by the way, just so you all don't think I go around peeing myself all the time). But seriously, I had a song dedicated to me, isn't that awesome?
So, I recommend coming out and watching them next time you can. If you check out their myspace page, its got a handy-dandy schedule for ya. The open mic (I think) is like rock star karaoke, where they play and you sing. I think. Anyway, come check 'em out. They rock.
Here is a future picture of me. It will take place in approxiamately 5 minutes.
Thanks for reading, see you tomorrow!!
