I can'tbelieve it! 6 days. I haven't done anything 6 days in a row. Ever. AND the email blogging works. Awesomtastic.
As you can see, at least I hope you can tell that today's awesome is tortilla chips and salsa. Now, not just any tortilla chips and salsa, I'm talking fresh-cooked tortilla chips and REALLY good, possibly home-made salsa. And I'm not just talking any old mexican restaraunt, were eating at the Mexican Food Embassy of classy downtown OK City. That's right, you had no idea that the Mexican government even has a food embassy, much less that they put it in Oklahoma City.
But think about this for a minute. Your the ambassador of food for Mexico. You are charged with placing an embassy somewhere in the U.S. You might say why not New York, Atlanta, Miami, or maybe LA? One word: oversaturation. The market is simply too full of average Mexican food that might taint the taste of truly excellent food deserving of the title of Mexican Food Embassy.
All that to say I would rather have eaten at Casa Gallardo. Oh well, it was an experience to write about.
Day 5, hopefully, right on schedule. I say hopefully because I am updating this via email from my phone. Hopefully it works. I have the awesome picture and the daily picture on here, I do hope they show up.
Anywho, on to the awesomeness. Today; caffiene. It is awesome today because it helped me get through yesterday. I was out of my house by 6:30, and I didn't get to bed until 4:30 (am). In between? A whole lotta awesomosity. 3 guys and myself enjoyed (I use that term rather loosely) about 10 hours in a car together. We ended in a hotel room with 6 guys. It was almost 9 guys, but we were able to avoid that crisis.
To make a day like that work, a lot off caffiene was necessary. I even bought a coffee pot (which I needed anyway) since the hotel has a way too small coffee maker. Red Bull will also be a staple this weekend, so a 12 pack was totally in order. I think that picture is on here somewhere.
Also on this post (I think) is a picture of me in downtown OKC.
Enjoy a little awesomeness and check back manana for some more!
So, you're thinking to yourself, what is gonna be next? I mean so far weve had Rush, pork and Snow Patrol be awesome, where is he going with this. I'll tell you. Concrete.
Thats right, concrete. Once again, I'll get more specific. The concrete that now composes my parents (and my office) driveway. I suppose this can only be truly appreciated by people who have driven on the old driveway, or at least seen it, but even if you haven't, doesn't it look nice?
Now, we can't drive on it yet, since it is 12" thick in most places, significantly thicker in some spots, and hasn't quite set yet. To put that in some perspective, the new Hwy. 40 will be 11" thick. Yes, our driveway will be more stout than the new Hwy. 40. My family has always been one for overkill.
Well, I gotta scoot to OK City, so here's todays pic, of course taken in said driveway.
3 Days. Dare I call it a streak? I think so. But we'll see after the weekend. I am going to OK City for the 4th, which should be a good time, but I don't know how easy it will be to keep this updated. I might try blogging from my phone, but I guess you'll just have to check back and see.
So, on to what is Awesome today. It's a song I have now just put on repeat on my iPod because I kept listening to it, probably 15 times since last night. Great song. I can't figure out if I like it because its a great song for me to sing along to in the car, which it is, or if I really like the lyrics. I do like the lyrics, even if I am not quite sure what they mean. I think they might be very apporpriate for my life now, but I'm not sure. The video doesn't give really any insight into what its about, they just had fun with flares and motorcycles. Either way, here is the video and the lyrics are below.
Artist: Snow Patrol lyrics Album: Final Straw Year: 2004 Title: Run
I'll sing it one last time for you Then we really have to go You've been the only thing that's right In all I've done
And I can barely look at you But every single time I do I know we'll make it anywhere Away from here
Light up, light up As if you have a choice Even if you cannot hear my voice I'll be right beside you dear
Louder louder And we'll run for our lives I can hardly speak I understand Why you can't raise your voice to say
To think I might not see those eyes Makes it so hard not to cry And as we say our long goodbye I nearly do
Light up, light up As if you have a choice Even if you cannot hear my voice I'll be right beside you dear
Louder louder And we'll run for our lives I can hardly speak I understand Why you can't raise your voice to say
Slower slower We don't have time for that All I want is to find an easier way To get out of our little heads
Have heart my dear We're bound to be afraid Even if it's just for a few days Making up for all this mess
Light up, light up As if you have a choice Even if you cannot hear my voice I'll be right beside you dear
So, there is today's awesomosity. Lemme know what you think.
Here is today's picture. I have been and will continue to do yard work, so I'm a little grubby, but you don't care, do you? You all love me anyway, and I love you all for that.
Hey, I am off to a good start, what with 2 consecutive days posting! So, what is good today? I'll tell you. Pork.
More specifically, Pork Tenderloin. Even more specific; Pork Tenderloin on a sandwich with cheese and carmelized onion, served on a pretzel style hamburger bun at Llywelyns Pub. Delicious.
So, I took a much needed easy night to myself last night. I went to Lly in Soulard (where I work on weekends) to say hey to the gang because I have had the last few weeks off and will take the next weekend off for a trip to OK City. This was their special last night and I was not dissapointed in any way. Then I played some Golden Tee and went home to do some reading. It was a great night.
Today's awesomeness comes from my best friend in the world, Brian. You see, it was my birthday Saturday. Brian and I got to hang out for several days last week, including a Tigers/Cards game in Detroit and some time having a spitting contest in a lake with his dad (ask me about that one, I dare you). Anyway, to finish our birthweek (his birthday was last Monday), we saw Rush Saturday night. Which leads me to the best thing for today: Neil Peart. Crazy good drummer for Rush. Check it out:
I have no idea when or where this solo is, but just know that he is amazing.
So, here is today's picture, which will be my profile pic on this here blog.
Make sure to check back tomorrow and find out what is awesome!
