Day 174

What a great day to be awesome. And still cold. Also, a great day for donuts. Not just any donuts, but possibly the best donuts in Saint Louis, at World's Fair Donuts.

You can find WFD at the corner of Vandeventer and Shaw, and I highly recommend you do. They have some of the best buttermilk donuts ever made. And they are just $.47. Bargain. The best part about it is that the place is run by this old couple, Terry and Peggy Clanton. He makes the donuts in the background, she is the counter person and has the most awesome beehive and a few pounds of makeup. It's quite the trip. Peggy also has some crazy math skills, you can order a dozen, tell her what you want, and before she even closes the box, she has a total for you, iuncluding tax, to the penny, without even touching a calculator or the really old school cash register they got. It's amazing.

Here is an article the NY Times wrote about Saint Louis a few years back, and of course, WFD got a nod. Decent article.

Here is the view inside the shop waiting for some donuts.

That is another counter girl they have apparently hired recently. Terry is just out of view in the back, and Peggy is just in view over the guy's left shoulder. Go and see for yourself how awesome it is.

Here I am eagerly awaiting my breakfast. Have a splendid day!!
